Everything happens in the e5o dashboard — you bring a research idea and an AI-model key. e5o does the literature review, experiments, analysis, and writing.
Go to e5o.io/app and sign in with the email and password you were invited with. Access is invite-only — if you need an account, ask your administrator (they add you under 👥 Users). You can change your password anytime under 👤 Account.
In the sidebar, open 🧠 AI Model:
① Pick a provider — Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter, Ollama Cloud, Gemini, or DeepInfra
② Paste your API key and click “Test key & load models” — e5o pulls the live
list of every model your account can use
③ Search the list, pick a model, and click Save
④ Click “Test chat” to confirm it responds
Your key is stored securely and used only for your papers. Tip: pick a capable but affordable model — a full run makes hundreds of model calls.
Open ✍️ New Paper and type your idea in plain English — for example, “I think smaller models fine-tuned on high-quality data can beat much larger ones on medical Q&A.” Click “Draft my plan.”
e5o turns it into a proper research plan — a working title, the hypothesis it will test (your idea becomes something to prove or disprove, not assume), what the paper will find out, and the approach. Review it, then choose how hands-on you want to be:
🚀 Autopilot — runs start to finish on its own.
🎛️ Co-pilot — pauses at the key decisions so you can approve or steer.
Click “Yes — start my paper.” That's the last thing you have to do.
You land on your paper's live page. It's not a black box:
• A live progress bar and a plain-English note on exactly what's happening right now.
• The full 23-stage map — click any stage to see what it does,
its actual reasoning (the hypothesis debate, the decisions), and the files it produced.
• A 💬 research assistant — ask “what have you found?” or give direction like
“focus on recent studies” and it applies it as it goes.
• In Co-pilot, at each decision gate you get Approve / Continue with my
notes / Stop. You can also Pause, Resume, or
Redo from any step at any time.
Runs take hours, not minutes — start it and step away. Your literature comes from four real sources: OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, arXiv, and Google Scholar.
When it finishes, find it under 📚 My Papers — every paper you start is saved there permanently. Open it to read the finished paper, see the full story of how it was made, and download it as Markdown or LaTeX, ready for submission.
Sign in → connect a model (once) → describe your idea → confirm the plan → collect your paper. Every later paper is just steps 3–5. Each account has a monthly paper limit shown on the New Paper screen.
